The Mustang’s 50th anniversary may be in the past but it sure doesn’t seem like it to me. I’m still in the middle of a busy travel year, which has included many book signings at Mustang shows.
I started the year out right in January at one of my favorite events, National Parts Depot’s Ford & Mustang Round-Up at Silver Springs, Florida. Following a two month lull in the action, I hit the road running in April to spend 10 days celebrating the Mustang’s 50th, starting in Oklahoma for the Pony Drive cruise to Charlotte for four days at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration, hosted by Ford and the Mustang Club of America. Heacock Classic Insurance sponsored my trip and offered their motorhome display for signing copies of Mustang Fifty Year. Unfortunately, I guessed wrong and didn’t bring enough books!
Since then, I’ve had book signings at ShelbyFest (Missouri), the Ford Nationals at Carlisle (Pennsylvania), and the Mid America Ford & Shelby Nationals (Oklahoma). It’s was great seeing so many old friends and making new ones.
But the year isn’t over. As the new editor for the Mustang Times, I’ll be heading to the remaining MCA national events in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Savannah, Georgia. And there’s no way I could miss the Mustang Owners Club of Southeastern Michigan’s Mustang Memories in Dearborn, where I’ve been invited (and honored) as one of their “Mustang heroes.”
Hope to see many of you on the road!
